Practice guidance 18th March 2020

Hello everyone

Hope you’re all well and healthy! Have a look at the quick movement of the Mealor tonight (the ooooo one, just remember that nice ah vowel with oh shape, and not ü). Denise has provided some fantastic midi files you can use to help with learning!!
...
Can I recommend practising the Bingham with a metronome as the hardest thing is keeping the pulse going!
...

If you have some time, find a spot in the Weelkes where you know you are weakest and really try and nail the tuning. Particular places with lots of accidentals!

There’s also a lovely recording of the weelkes to listen to on Spotify
https://open.spotify.com/track/3Cu1mhFpOco9NIdKC0MMUf?si=iMJZNhiNQ3WwnL4FIvbf-Q
Listen for the sense of line and the big 2 in a bar beat they make.

Also for those interested in what I was on about last week about timelessness in harmony with the Bingham, here is a link to Bach St Matthew opening
https://open.spotify.com/track/6cGC7PGVDENo8QUgI87Dmy?si=T85BB1hNTB2-iUbFz7bHcA

Hopefully those links work

Stay healthy!

Thanks

Derrick
