Jenny's notes, 14th January 2009

Hi, here they are an evening late... ;p

IN REVERSE ORDER cos this is the most important thing we did

CLOUDBURST

Generally -

Preceding entry - D is given. 3 beats are given (during which we can take a breath to save gasping on 3rd beat!) and we come in on 4th beat.
CONCENTRATE on entry.
Preceding Bar 1 - is pp
Bar 2- Watch Ollie's mouth, it will tell you when to go from a to o to m. Think of it as a bar of 4 beats and a bar of 3 beats. It's in 7/4. (You can even draw your own bar line in.)
Bars 3 -5 - Sing words at random. WATCH Ollie for coming in and then ignore him a bit. But not too much because we all need to WATCH for his ENORMOUS down beat at the 5/4 bar. MEN concentrate on counting.
Once the accent is sung on your entry note, drop down a dynamic so we can hear other entries.
Bar 6 - We should have all seen Ollie's big downbeat and be AH-GUA ing together. Breath mark.
Bar 8 - BASSES - give us a strong F natural
MEN - dim (cos you are!!!not!) slightly, to keep the energy going and enable you to keep up volume at bar 9
NO BREAKING OR BREATHING BETWEEN BAR 8 and 9
Bar 10 - dim on NO of SUENO
Bar 11 - SEBASTIAN is solo voice
Bar 16 - mf
Bar 22 - SOPS - are pp. Everyone else is mp
ALT IIs - Come in on same note as Sops. Make sure it's the same A
Bar 23 - ALTOS be careful of the E and D

KANARBIC - this will be sung OFF BY HEART for definite
Look at it for next week
TENORS - practise singing C A C D
If possible listen to the words for next week

ON HILLISUVI - this will be sung OFF BY HEART for definite
Think about coming in. How to come in and placing of note.
4 beats will be given - write it in copy
G note will be given - write it in copy
SOPRANOS - legato and PP at beginning. Come straight off on KAS
Bar 3 - cresc into the chord containing B flat and F natural
ALTO 1 - have a bit of a melody.
Ollie will bring us off on long note
ALTOS - Chesty top of page 2. (Easier for some than others!) Resonate and blend.
Bar 6 - Come off on 4 at the same time
Bar 11 - mp. ALTOS watch coming in on phrase and be together. Legato.
SOPS II, BASSES, TENORS are dim
Bar 13 - mf
BASSES - give us a strong A
TENORS - give us a sharper A
WRITE THIS IN YOUR COPIES, PLEASE
Put an ! above the very first chord
TENORS - put an arrow pointing upwards on the A I've just mentioned
SOPRANOS - circle the pp
Put a cresc marking in bar 3
Put a DEcresc marking in bar 5
SOPS and ALTOS mark your p at end of bar 6
MEN put a circle round dim at bar 10
