Jenny's rehearsal notes, 15th October
Run Tobbogan
Bit of note bashing and whatnot.
Begin excited and quiet
Watch the accidentals
Bar 19 - men - G sharp is same as A flat
Well done basses, that's very hard, especially bar 19
That A's nice, Altos
Middle section where key changes - Make the words snappy especially CLIPS; SNAPS; FLAPS; HATS
The words in this song need to be really clear and it's quite difficult.
there's a bit needs to be legato with clear words but I missed it
Swell on FLEECES and PIECES
Hold PIE.......CES
Remember to go back to bar 23 to sing verse 3
Bogoro Ditsje
Ollie counts 4 for altos to start Bogor-ing
Pay attention to stopping/slowing down and page turns
Sops .... wait for altos to finish something before you come in
TENORS Lots of tone on high notes
Everyone get the hard 'k' on at the end of words at same time
JA blend the vowel
First system p.2 - MEN legato and P
Make the first 2 bars (p.2?) different from next two
Last bar p.2 give it a full 4 beats
LOOK UP at end of p.2. Or Ollie will beat you strongly...oh, I mean look up for a strong beat from Ollie
Do your homework as above
NB Next concert is on the 13th November. Merchants Hall on corner of Rose St/George St/Hanover st. Between 7/8.30 probably in two 15 minute halves. We'll sing jolly (?!) Scottish stuff we know already. As many people as possible. BASSES have no option.
Cranshaws on 20th December has been confirmed, but will be in a DIFFERENT church in a village further on. [Longformacus, actually on a different road. Ed.]
Comittee meeting at Rachael's for 8pm. Thursday 23rd
We seemed to come to some sort of agreement about the CD. First the majority agreed with the title - What are they doing. Second, the majority agreed with a blank cover, black, with title and Rudsambee on. Arno has offered to do something with this idea for Thursday. Third the majority agreed that the photo of us in the gallery which includes Alison, will be on the back cover of the CD. [No - it's on on the back of the booklet. Ed.] (I think there are other informal photos to be put in the booklet but I might have misinterpreted that)
PLEASE DON'T click REPLY ALL when replying to emails UNLESS it's urgent - like if you can't make a rehearsal or concert. Catting on emails detracts from urgent messages as people can't be bothered reading inane gossip and won't bother with, thus missing out on, urgent information. It also clogs up work emails and whatnot. You can chat on the blog if you can manage to work out how to do it... Thanks, Jenny
