Natalie's notes from Wednesday 29th

Whithorn song list handed out. Those with an asterisk need work.

1. Dark Eyed Sailor
Page 4 - pay attention to the rall and fermata at the end of the top line, and the entry at the beginning of the 2nd line.
Cool. Good the 2nd time round.

2. Fhir a Bhata
G entry. Ollie will conduct in 3/4 time.
Check pronounciation with Peter 1.
Last note of the 1st and 2nd line is a crotchet. Just sing it for 1 beat.
1st line is (p) with a slight crescendo at ho ro.
2nd line is (m) with a slight crescendo at ho ro.
Think of the 2nd line as an answer to the 1st line.
Then get louder at Mo stor-aidh slan on the 3rd/4th lines.

3. Gaelic Set
Practised going from one song to the next.

4. Ae Fond Kiss
F entry. Everyone sings verse 3.
Verse 4 - gaps between the following: joy and treasure, peace, enjoyment, love and pleasure.
Verse 5 - gaps between the following: Ae fond kiss, and then we sever.
Tenors - sing the dotted quaver.

5. Riverdance
F entry. Tried without folders.
1st repeated section into 2nd section is fine.
2nd repeated section into 3rd, and 3rd into 4th is a bit dodgy.

6. Adon Olam.
Went through the pronounciation. Controversial. Will have definitive pronounciation in two weeks time.
Meanwhile, ch is pronounced a rough h.
B entry.

7. Sung Riverdance again without music. Found out what we were doing wrong eg. altos have an upbeat on the repeats. Then we sang it again.

Ended with running through Son Ar Chistr and The Optimists Song for Susan and
John's party.
