Jenny's notes 20th June 2007
Thought there wouldn't be many notes but here they are as concisely as poss. Please read and especially the notices thanks:-
Firstly Penny will not be at the French Institute, so I'm being Penny in the formation.
Warm Up - Anne - rhythms, light and bouncy, legato, intonation and annunciation and fixing in our heads what we need to focus on for different types of song. Thankyou.
Puddock - Intonation and rhythm especially bar 21 for women and bar 18 for the men
Puddo ck
1,2,3,4 &
Singing it a bit slower than usual cos it's clearer
No pause after Feathers
Ollie's pleased with that
Son ar Fantastic
Tourdion Look ahead of section you're singing, it helps to know where you're going to
Don't drown out the sopranos. Altos and Tenors tone it down and think can I hear them
Tiny something on Chanton but can't read it, sorry if it's important
Visur D given
Think about it before opening mouth
Sops think about phrasing and do it or you'll bore the audience
Make nice swells and phrasing is pretty much 2 bar
Sops on page 2 compliment the basses with their phrasing
Think about placing vowel sound especially infront of audience
Think about vowel sound on elskur at end
Ollie's doing what with the pause at the end (?) Sorry, writing's rubbish. Better watch him.
Lovely
Estrella Remember dynamics
Varvindar Really good
Dynamics - Aim for 1st beat in every bar and come down (Viska means whisper)
Dynamics flow up and down and the dots will come out with the wind
Think about the words - spring breezes and infatuated couples. But you don't need to be infatuated couples (enough of those in the tenor section!!) Just aim for atmospheric spring breezes
Din dirin The 4-tet will be singing the second verse so make sure you move for this song
Good
Irish B - B flat given
Remember dynamics
Optimist song is encore if needed
Thomas and Sebastian are in the wrong place on the formation sheet for J'ai Coeuill. Sebastian should be between me and Anne
Robin is introducing Tourdion and Son ar together. So there will be no introduction between these songs but remember to move
Kay is introducing Puddock and Gulping in it. Sebastian is doing the puddock noise at end
Make sure both are loud and clear so the audience get it
I'm announcing Ave
